Its been a while since Apple updated their iPod lineup, and when we almost thought that the iPod series were dead, here comes Apple with a much needed, and quite surprising update to the iPod Touch. Now the question that pops up in every Apple enthusiasts mind is that, should i get the latest gen Apple iPod Touch or the last year’s Apple iPhone 5s, after I sell iPhone. And to help you make a wise choice, we are here with a dedicated comparison between the New iPod Touch and iPhone 5s.
The latest generation Apple iPhone 6 and the Apple iPod Touch has always looked kind of similar. And with the latest iteration of the Apple iPod Touch, Apple has kept the same design as previous generation iPod Touch models. However, the 6th generation iPod Touch is slimmer than the iPhone 6 at 6mm. The loop tag hole is gone from the latest iPod Touch, however, Apple has added a variety of color options to choose from.
The Apple iPhone 5s features an Aluminium box type design, is technically thicker and in no way similar to the Apple iPhone 6. However, as both these devices comes from Apple, there should be no doubt about the built quality.
Hardware wise though, the Apple iPod Touch 6th generation has a lot in common with the Apple iPhone 6. It runs the same A8 processor found in the iPhone 6, even though at lower speed and features 1 GB of RAM. In benchmarks, it beats the Apple iPhone 5s and scores almost equal to the Apple iPhone 6. And in real day performance too, from gaming to multi tasking, the latest Apple iPod Touch does everything like a boss.
The Apple iPhone 5s is no slouch either. It features last year’s Apple A7 processor with 1 GB of RAM. And even today, the iPhone 5s does every tasks and even gaming without showing any signs of lags or stutters. Moreover, the Apple iPhone 5s has two advantages over the Apple iPod Touch 6th gen: calling and Touch ID.
No, the Apple iPod Touch does not have Touch ID.
The camera on the Apple iPod Touch, both the rear and front facing one’s are updated to 8 MP and 1.2 MP respectively, and the output from the camera is much better than previous gen iPod Touch models, and is similar to the results given out by the Apple iPhone 5s.
If calling and Touch ID are two features you can’t live without, then you have no hope with the Apple iPod Touch. However, if you are ready to give up both these features, and you are more interested in enjoying the iOS ecosystem with superb hardware performance and awesome camera, then the Apple iPod Touch is for you.
Because, the pricing of the iPod Touch 6th generation starts at $199 for 16 GB whereas you won’t be able to get a brand new iPhone 5s even today, without shedding twice that money.
