It will be a tough call to adjudge the winner in this technology race. It is all about innovation and creating a brand name for itself. Both Apple and Google have done it in the appropriate manner and they have mastered the art of mesmerizing their end users.

Google’s Innovation and Product List

Google started it all with the launch of their simple yet powerful search application and then went on to conquer the world with their array of products. It was a simple and intuitive design from the Google labs and people were so happy to use their applications. Gmail completely revolutionalized the entire globe and the way people communicate with each other. Yahoo and Hotmail accounts became almost useless with the launch of Gmail services.
Google acted swift to grab the market share with the launch of an array of products such as Orkut, YouTube, Picasa etc.

People were simply amused to use the applications at ease. They showed a greater level of innovation by coming up with products that were highly beneficial for a common man. Yes, they got it right! They had the ability to deliver the products that were in demand for a common man. This was one of the important factors that led to their success.

Apple’s Innovation and Product List

Apple was almost bankrupt by the year 1996 and 1997 before Steve Jobs took the CEO Job again. However, he was determined to bring it back on the track and he did it right by scrapping up the useless variants of MAC models. Year 2001 witnessed a revolution in the digital music world with the launch of iPod which had redefined the music industry. Apple became more interested in producing products that touched upon human lives and their day to day activities.
Apple’s iPod was able to surpass the numbers of units of Walkman sold by Sony in just ten years for which Sony took 25 years. Apple was more interested in the mobile handset segment and came up with the launch of iPhones. It spurred up another revolution in this world and it was marketed to its loyal fan base across the globe. Apple pioneered the concept of innovation in terms of design and features. The glass screen that is free from the scratches and the elegant functionalities were some of the key features. iPad is another popular product from the Apple store.
Difference
One possible difference between Apple and Google is that the later always preferred to opt for open source technologies which will encourage a common man to use. However, Apple is able to sell its products successfully because of the huge fan following with a great brand loyalty.

It is expected that Google might take little time to build the same brand loyalty and might come up as a clear winner in the long run. Technology companies must understand that cost of buying equipments, accessories, and applications will be greatly considered in the near future before choosing the particular products. Apple must wake up to the realty and must make suitable alternatives.

The field of search engine optimization is ever evolving and dynamic in nature with new additions quite often. The sole driving force of SEO is the way search engine algorithms index web pages. Search engines have grown much more intelligent than ever with a number of added complications for generating search engine page results. Consequently, SEO methods have changed from time to time owing to modifications and experimentations in searching algorithms.

Release of Google Panda

Google has announced that it is looking forward to eliminate low quality stuff present on the internet making it necessary for the webmasters to generate quality content in accordance with the needs of visitors. In this context, the “Farmer update” was unveiled by Google in February this year which is a major change in the search engine indexing algorithms. Also, the “Farmer update”, “Panda Update” being its other name, belongs to the series of such algorithmic changes which Google has planned to implement shortly in order to motivate original content and optimize search results by degrading irrelevance. Google Panda targets a number of attributes of a website before placing in search results some of which are listed here and a complete list can be viewed at Google Webmasters Guidelines.

Absence of external and internal links on the page.

Content shortage on the page.

Duplicate content.

SEO Methods Still Functioning After Release of Google Panda

As Google uncovered the Panda update, the entire SEO community has been trying to understand the aftereffects of this release as there has been a significant change in the popularity level of a number of websites. Websites which depict originality have undergone a huge boost in search results while some of the sites have got severe setbacks in terms of search ranking particularly due to reuse of content from other pages. In this scenario, those SEO techniques which stood at their place and can still be implemented for website optimization are outlined here:

Bounce Rate: In Post- Panda scenario, bounce rate has become one of the most important SEO techniques in website optimization. Google defined the bounce rate as the percentage of visits in which visitors left the website from the landing page i.e. single-page visits. It seems pretty logical that on clicking a web link if users find it useless they leave the page without further exploring it. Therefore, Panda Update motives webmasters to optimized landing pages so that users explore the site resulting in reduced bounce rate and improved ranking.

Article Length: Quality content still does a lot for website ranking. Instead of writing pretty common articles for ezine sites, write unique, informative and rich quality content for your own site so that visitors stay for a longer period of time.

Analyze Web Statistics: The analysis of Pre and Post-Panda statistics is very important. Try to figure out which website got hit by Panda update and why. Panda update hits only when there is something wrong and needs to be corrected.

On-Page Off-Page Optimization: These techniques still work well but care must be taken that anything making Panda update feel unnatural will be dropped from its current ranking.

We are living in an era of marketing and IT which has resulted in emergence of millions of sites on Google search engine. You can easily make your site or blog one of the top ten or even number one for that matter on Google search engine provided you know exactly what to do. Besides, you will face extreme competition from the competitors who would try their level best to maintain the status of their respective sites. In these circumstances making your own way requires some level of talent and skill.

Tips on maintaining ranking on first page of Google’s:

There are some tips which if followed can yield positive results for you and your site. These tips are basically based on the likes of Google algorithm. Anything which is preferred by Google algorithm should be acted upon for lifting the rank of the site.

The first and most important thing which you will need to stay on top is to be knowledgeable not only about latest SEO techniques but also about the latest algorithms introduced by Google. You also need to know exactly what is missing from your site. For instance, if appropriate links are missing you should focus on link building. On the other hand, if the keywords that you are using are not beneficial for your site then you can revert to using some other keywords.

If you want to stay on top of the Google search engine then you should optimize your web pages so as to make them consumer friendly. You will need to market your products in a way which attracts customers to your site. The traffic to your site will result in maintaining the rank of your site. You can also encourage them to subscribe to your site or give them an option to follow you on social networking sites like twitter and facebook. The more interaction that you have with the users will also increase the chances of the success of your site.

Identifying appropriate keywords is vital if you want to maintain the rank of your site and keep it among the sites on Google first page. You can use SEO tools to search the most useful keywords for your content. You should also take care to update your web site with keywords every now and then. Keyword density should not exceed 5% under any circumstances because Google algorithm do not like content mushroomed with keywords.

You can maintain the ranking of your site in the first page of Google by building appropriate links to your site. Incoming links as well as back links will help optimize your site to a great extent. Proper links at right sites are very useful in attracting more surfers to your site or blog.

Attaining the top rank is perhaps not as difficult as is maintaining the rank of the site and it requires proper dedication and constant effort on your part.

Not so long ago, if you wanted to find out any kind of information, you were forced to look up the yellow pages or even head to the nearest library for you to do some research. All of that changed when the internet became something readily available to people. At first it could only be used from internet café’s that were a bit scarce to find but now the internet is available to almost everyone because of its integration on even the most basic of mobile phones

Because of this, unknown information is readily on our fingertip because if one wanted to find out something, all they would have to do would be to use the internet on their phone and search using Google or any other search engine and the results will be displayed and you can choose one to your relevance.

If you are not familiar with Google and how to use it, there are some steps outlined below for you to use to help you get familiar with it.

You can use your current browser to type in http://google.com. After this, you will be directed to Google’s main web page. The main Google page generally serves people in the US and globally as well. However, in some cases, there is a specific Google webpage for some particular countries. Now the main Google search will display everything that is associated with whatever you are searching for. However, you can also narrow down your search by choosing to have your results from pictures, news or videos.

You can also use your toolbar to search. Most browsers come with Google as a toolbar so instead of you typing the link and everything you can simply click on the Google toolbar and enter your query.

As you search it is important that you be specific and mention keywords that can help narrow down the search. It would be very vague to enter a search and just type ‘car’. There is tons of information involving a car and you may not get that which is relevant to you. However if you were to search for ‘new car models 2011’, the search would be narrowed to such results.

What most people don’t know is that it is very possible for you to search for an image on Google in the same way that you enter searches in texts. You can use the tips below to search for a particular image;

With the current browser you have click on Google images. The icon is a small camera at the end of the search box.

Click on that icon and to continue, you have two options available to you. You can choose to enter the URL of the image or you can upload the image as that option has been given to you.

You can also drag and drop the image to the search box if that option has been given or you could also enter the file path. Once this is done, you simply click the enter button and the results will be displayed for you.

Google is a highly used search engine by the users. So Google pays a strong focus on its search system. Recently Google has launched some new features at its big event, official named as “Google Inside Search”. The main features launched by Google are Voice search on desktop computers, Images search and Instant search.

Voice Search (For Desktop Computer Users)

Google Voice Search, this facility is now available for desktop computers as well. Earlier, this was available only in the smart phones. Both the iPhone and Android users enjoyed this feature of voice search for a long time and now the same facility is being made available to desktop users. The icon of this feature is made available at the Google’s English website, next to the search field. Click on it and you will be able to speak with your search engine.

Earlier Google users have to type the keywords to search the required information. But now users can get their relevant information by speaking words to Google search engine and after understanding the words, Google will display the relevant information. But as per statistics, almost 80% of the voice words can be understood by this feature and accordingly displayed the relevant result.

Search by Image

Every Google user should be familiar with Image Search. They used to search relevant images by using image name.

For more accurate search, there is a feature available “Search similar images” to search desired image sizes. Now by using this feature, user can search any image either by uploading an image file on the Google search image bar or by placing the desired image URL for searching similar images with different sizes and resolutions. By using this feature, you can find your all the personal images posted by anyone or by you at any public communities.

This feature provides an added bonus for those websites who relies on images and graphics as a showcase of their products for getting good click rate to their site.

Instant Search

Google Instant Search is the new search enhancement feature of Google for providing you instant search result. By enabling this, the sites will start populating results by entering each new character in the Google search bar. You can also say that there is no need to press “enter” key for getting results.

As this feature is very fast and takes an instant to give the results, so it improves the visitor usability as well as time. The reason behind this instant result is that the related websites are already loaded at the back-end, so display is instant even before a click. Google Instant is also available as a beta feature in mobile phones.

Also, if you don’t want to see the results as you type in the search bar, you can turn off the Google Instant by setting your preferences page.
